UKU Indoor National Championships will be held on the outskirts of Coventry on 24-25 Jan 2009.  The Open Division is at the Alan Higgs Centre.

The saturday games of the Women's division at the XCel Centre, with all teams playing at the Alan Higgs centre on Sunday 25th.

This means players will need to be prepared to switch between a hard "sports hall floor" and 3G astroturf/rubber crumb. Naturally we believe this will not cause major problems and feel that the overall venue merits the experiment.

FOOTWEAR on the rubber crumb surface.

We recommend "astroturf boots" or moulded studs.  Trainers are also fine. 

PLEASE NOTE that blades and screw-in studs are NOT allowed as there is a risk they will damage your ankle and/or the "carpet".  Players with these types of boots will be asked to remove them.

We will be actively seeking feedback about the surface in particular from competitors after the event.

Other Information

Lookfly are supporting the event and will have a shop at Alan Higgs Centre throughout the weekend.

There will be a party by Blockstack in the function room at the Alan Higgs centre on Saturday night.

Open teams will be contacted directly based on qualification from Regionals.

Accomodation

We're working on some options and trying to get some local deals set up. We already have a great one in place at a hotel that is walking distance from Alan Higgs, and are working on some others.

Directions to ALAN HIGGS CENTRE (taken from the sports centre's website)

By car (there is plenty of free parking at the venue):
From the City Centre Ring Road (anti-clockwise);
- Exit the Ring Road at junction 4 and take the exit signposted
- A4114 London Road.
- Proceed along London Road till you reach the main roundabout
- and take your first exit signposted A4082.
- Proceed till the roundabout and take your 3rd exit (1st being
- for the Supermarket) on to Allard Way.
- Proceed along Allard Way and 750 yards on your right is
- the entrance to The Alan Higgs Centre.

From the M6;
- Exit at Junction 3 of f the M6 and take exit off the roundabout
- signposted Coventry; Holbrooks A444.
- Proceed along the dual carriageway for half a mile and take
- the 2nd exit of f the roundabout signposted City Centre A444.
- Proceed along the dual carriage way (Phoenix Way) for half
- a mile and take the 1st exit at the roundabout signposted City
- Centre A444; Foleshill; Edgwick Industrial Estate.

- Proceed along the dual carriageway for half a mile and take the 2nd exit signposted City Centre A444; Bell Green (this roundabout features a metal
- spiral sculpture).
- Proceed along the dual carriageway for half a mile and take the 3rd exit, staying on the A444 (going straight past Centre AT7).
- Proceed along the A444
- Go straight over the 1st roundabout
- At the 2nd roundabout take the 2nd exit into Humber Road
- Follow this road until you come to a 3rd roundabout
- Take the 1st exit off the roundabout
- The Alan Higgs Centre driveway is approx 750 yards on the right hand side

By bus:
The West Midlands Travel 3 and 4 service departs from Coventry City Centre and stops a 5 minute walk away from the Centre

• Exit the Coventry Ring Road at J6 by the Railway Station and turn onto Warwick Road, passing King Henry V111 School.

• Take the 1st exit at the island into Sir Henry Parkes Road.
• Take the 3rd exit at the next island onto Charter Avenue.
