* Temporary and Introductory members receive public liability insurance only
As of 2007, UKUA membership runs for one year from the date of joining (as opposed to our previous schemes which ran from the date of joining through to Dec 31st). Consequently we have removed the half-year membership types as they are no longer required. Each year you should receive an automated email reminding you that your membership will expire soon. This is followed by a further reminder email after membership has expired.

The standard UKUA membership types are "Ordinary", "University" and "Young".
These membership types entitle the member to play in UKUA events where they meet the qualification criteria. Open, Women, Mixed and Junior divisions all have fairly obvious qualification criteria. Please see here for more details regarding University membership qualification criteria .
Only players that have joined under these membership types are able to pracitce with and play in GB squads.
This information is also summarised in the Eligibility table at the end of the Membership section.

We recognise that many people have never heard of ultimate before they start playing. With this in mind we have created the "introductory" membership types to make it easier for new players to play in UKUA tournaments for a very small initial membership fee. Naturally we hope that players will quickly become completely hooked (as so many of us have been) and continue to play ultimate for many years...
Please note that the introductory membership types are available ONLY to players that have NOT
in the past.
Introductory members are entitled to play in the same UKUA events as they would be if they were full members, but are not eligible for practicing or playing with GB squads.
This information is also summarised in the Eligibility table at the end of the Membership section.

The Temporary Membership types were introduced in order to enable visiting players to enter a weekend tournament without having to obtain a full membership with the UKUA. It can also be used by players who only require membership to play in one or two events. This membership is geared solely for this purpose and so, in particular, does not include Ultimatum.
Note that we require players at UKUA events to have UKUA membership to ensure that we have the appropriate public liability insurance in place to help protect the organisation, the Tournament organisers, and other competitors if something goes wrong. Hopefully it never does of course!
This information is also summarised in the Eligibility table at the end of the Membership section.
Juniors under 16 cannot become members due to data protection issues. Nonetheless, they can take part in Juniors UKUA events and play for GB Junior squads (subject to parental/legal limitations). A parent or guardian (over 16) can register on their behalf in order to receive UKUA communications.
We intend to set up a paper-based membership scheme to enable U16s to join the UKUA and thereby simplify this situation. Any updates to this plan will be reported here.

Subscription membership was created to provide a low-cost form of membership to stay in touch with UK ultimate and, in particular, to receive Ultimatum.
Note that subscription members are not eligible to play in UKUA events and so do not receive insurance cover.
This information is also summarised in the Eligibility table at the end of the Membership section.
