EMO Clinic - Basic Skills

A repeat of the successful Skills Day we ran back in October, the aim of the day is to teach some basic principles to beginners and intermediate players. It is especially aimed at those who started playing ultimate around Sept-Oct time (i.e. university beginners), but everyone is welcome and even players with a few years experience found the last session useful.

There are some drills and tips that will help you to improve.
- Basic throwing & catching technique
- Cutting & effective man-to-man defence
- Forcing and breaking the mark
- Bidding & Reading the disc

National Indoor Qualifiers 2006

Event details:

This will be one of the official qualifying tournaments for the 2006 UKU Indoor Nationals. Any team may enter regardless of geographical location. The tournament will be limited to just 16 teams, so get your cheques in the post!

The format is currently being finalised. As a guide teams can probably expect approx. ten games ranging from 20-30 minutes in length.

The venue has a good-sized sports hall with all the usual facilities including swimming pool, squash, caf and bar. The venue is also very convenient to get to. It is just a five-minute drive from junction 21 of the M5 and only a mile from the Weston-Super-Mare mainline train station.

London Mens Skills Day

We are pleased to announce a single day skills workshop aimed at beginners and intermediate level male ultimate players.

It will be jointly planned and coached by Clapham Ultimate (National and European Champions) and Fire of London (Tour Champions). We will have a number of stations with different skills to work on and hopefully some tactics too.

This should be an excellent opportunity to brush up on your skills and to pick up some tips from some of the top players in the UK.

The Sports Hall is 44 x 34 x 8.4m which accommodates 2 basketball courts to International Wheelchair Basketball Federation standard. There is also seating for upto 500 spectators, and an onsite restaurant / bar. Also onsite is accommodation in a ground floor series of rooms. These will be offered first though to school teams.

The Annual 2nd Belfast Hat Tournament will be held on the 25 & 26 March 2006. It will be held right next to Stormont Parlament this year, and the party venue on friday and saturday night is right beside the pitches. We'll also have some pretty nice changing rooms, showers etc. so after the days play we can relax in the bar.

Format: 4 games a day on grass between at least 8 evenly match mixed teams. There are no divisions in this tournament so bring everyone along fill in a form and we'll mix up the names and create some fun and fair teams. The players consist of an eclectic mix of scots, english, european, canadians, yanks and more irish folk than you can shake a stick at!
