In May 2009 we upgraded the website to resolve a number of technical issues that we have been experiencing with our membership scheme.

This seemed like a good opportunity to simplify our membership types, as there were too many options that just tended to result in confusion for many people. Here's a summary of what has changed and why.

Full Membership simply seems like a clearer description than "ordinary membership". We also wanted to make it clearer that the old "university membership" was just a discounted version of the "ordinary membership". So we have just changed their names.

Basic Membership is a replacement for the old "introductory and uni intro" membership. We combined these two types into a single membership type, but also removed the restriction on only being able to purchase this membership type once. I.e. you can purchase Basic Membership every year if that is all you need.

The old "temporary" membership was also changed. It now explicitely includes a year-long Basic membership which makes it clearer that the associated liability insurance actually lasts for one year. This was the case before, but it was difficult for us and the individual to track. We have also renamed this membership type to focus on the fact that the only reason for buying it is to gain temporary eligibility for a major UKU event.

Finally, we have set up the Ultimatum! subscription so that some of the Basic members that would like a copy can obtain one easily.
