By Tim Sanders

Portsmouth Sublime: Portsmouth Sublime collecting their gold medals at the BUCS Championships A year ago Warwick Bears took university nationals by storm. This year Bears were looking to retain their title but the competition was far more fierce. Portsmouth Sublime, who Bears had overwhelmed in last year’s final, had retained much of their squad and were unbeaten coming into the tournament, having won University Open Indoor Nationals and qualified top from their region.

Mixed Indoor Nationals

Mixed Indoor Nationals was held at Alan Higgs Centre in Coventry on 20-21 Feb.

The tournament was eventually won by Discmen Ultrastars, meaning that Scottish teams had a clean sweep in club indoor national championships.  The final was close and tense with the Discmen taking advantage of mistakes by Bear Cavalry to win in sudden death.  Bear Cavalry won Spirit of the Game.  Cowboys won the Plate (9th).  The tournament was marked by a number of suprising results as lower seeded teams repeatedly over-turned their opponents in the pre-quarters and quarter-finals.
