UKU Event TD Positions Available - Apply Now!

Have you ever wanted to be part of the UKU Events Team? Running tournaments on the day and making sure everything runs smoothly?

Here at UKU we are now looking to build a bigger team of TDs who can assist us at some of our larger events (those like Tour and Nationals) and possibly run some of our smaller ones (such as our indoor tournaments). It would be an ad hoc role, where you would only work at the tournaments you’re available for/required and you’d be paid for your time and assistance (dependent on size of role). Obviously, the more tournaments you work for us, the more likely that you’ll be given greater responsibility and the opportunity to TD larger events!

It’s great fun to work within the UKU team and we’d also be looking to provide you with other opportunities to grow your skill set throughout your time with us. But as an outline, this is what you would be required to do:

  • Attend various UKU events to:
    • Ensure the smooth running of the tournament
    • Be responsible for both set up and set down
    • Oversee and manage the schedule
    • Update game scores (including online)
    • Collect Spirit of the Game scores
    • Establish and maintain a good relationship with the venue
    • Ensure the cleanliness of the venue
    • Make sure that teams respect the venue and that rules are upheld
    • Collect and organise tournament paperwork

Not everyone can be a TD though. We’re searching for people who hold certain skills and will be able to meet the requirements of the job. We’re not saying that you need to know how tournaments run inside-out but we will be looking for the following

  • Good organisation and timekeeping
  • Ability to multitask and prioritise appropriately
  • Familiarity with the format of Ultimate tournaments
  • Approachable and friendly personality
  • Flexibility to help where needed across all aspects of UKU events
  • Proficiency with google drive, google sheets/excel and google forms
  • Desire to grow in the role and learn on the job

The ability to drive/own a car and previous experience in events would also be useful for your application and is desirable but is not considered as essential.

If you are interested in the role then please send us a document to outlining why you would be suited to the position, what you can bring to the team and why you’re applying. Please keep it to less than 1 side of A4.

Alternatively, if you are more interested in doing this role as part of your club committee or ultimate team then just let us know and we can discuss those details with you because we’re just as keen to get more ultimate clubs involved! Simply send us an email to the above address with your club name, who would be involved and how you see yourselves helping at our events in the future and we can move forward from there.

The deadline for submissions is 9pm on Friday 20th October 2017. If you have any questions in the meantime though then please do not hesitate to drop us an email.
