Eligibility:

To complete at Regionals, players need to have BASIC membership of UKU (£5). You can check your membership status and expiry date by logging on to the UKU website. Teams reaching finals will need to have FULL UNI MEMBERSHIP (£18.50) – there is an option to pay for an UPGRADE from “basic” to “full-uni” – so people do not pay twice.

Start Times, Seedings & Schedule:

Teams will be seeded based on their performance at Nationals last year, followed by their performance at Regionals. The tournament will most likely run along the usual lines of triple elimination, possibly using peer pools. The more teams that enter the earlier the start time ... earliest is 8:30am, latest is 11am, most likely is 10am. Please indicate on the registration form if you would like a late start on Saturday.

Other stuff:

1st teams have a spot reserved until the deadline (Wed 12th Oct). Remaining spots will be allocated on a first-pay-first-play basis. Your place is only confirmed once we have received payment.

Accomodation and transport: 

We will be providing FREE Accommodation on Fri & Sat nights, if required, at the Beaumont School, AL4 0XB (10 min drive, or bus; maps here) in the Sports & Assembly Halls (so bring roll mats, sleeping bags & ear plugs). You must indicate on the sign up form if you wish to make use of this ... earliest start time is 8:30am ... most likely is 10am.

Food:

Food options are still being confirmed as I'm trying to drive the price down or bump what you can get, but if you can indicate what you think your team might be interested in on the registration form it will help a lot. The options will be:

  • 2 Course Sat Dinner @ £10
  • 2 x Hot / Cold Lunch Package @ £12
  • 2 x Hot / Cold Lunch, 2 Course Sat Dinner Package @ £20
  • 2 x Cooked / Continental Breakfast, 2 x Hot Lunch, 2 Course Sat Dinner Package @ £25

The 2 Course Dinner on Saturday (available straight after your teams last game) will be something along the lines of:

  • Freshly baked bread rolls + butter

  • Unlimited Squash + other drinks & snacks to purchase.
  • 1 piece of fruit

Lunch will be on a voucher where you can choose a combination of hot / cold food + drink, eg:

  • Fruit, Choc bar, Pasta Pot + Drink.

Breakfast will also be on a similar voucher for cooked or continental breakfast.

Lion Forty Four is pleased to be hosting the UK Ultimate Open Club Indoor National Qualifiers in Plymouth again. This year it will be in the MarJon Sports centre (rebuilt in 2010). We have three pitches and space for up to 24 teams.

The sports centre has a café to relax in and plenty of space for your team to hang out in. It is a modern campus sport centre open to the public and boasts the best indoor facilities in Devon, if not the Southwest. This venue will also be one of the sports centres hosting Iron Five in December.

We are pleased to announce that we have secured a fantastic new (to ultimate) venue to host this year's BUCS UKU University Outdoor Nationals, the University of Manchester Sports Ground. It is a substantial site and as a result will be big enough to host four divisions; the University Open Divisions A & B, the University Women's Division and a brand new division for 2012, the Alumni Cup!



Have you ever argued that your university team of 2010 was better than the 2005 team? Have you always wanted a re-match of a previous Student Nationals final? Well now is your chance! Gather together your mates and enter a team into the Alumni Cup. This is going to become an annual event so not only will we be able to crown the open and womens' university champions but we will also be able to crown the best university team ever...


This will be an open division. To be eligible for an alumni team the player must have attended the institution for at least one year. The player does not need to have graduated from that institution. Universities may enter more than one team.

There are currently some good deals at around £30 per room but Manchester United are at home on the Saturday so it will fill up very fast. Transport to the Venue


 


 


Air: The venue is 6 miles from Manchester International Airport.


Rail: The venue is 9 miles from Manchester Piccadilly Station & 7 miles from Stockport Station.


Buses: The venue can be reached from the centre of Manchester on bus numbers 101, 104, 105 and 109. You need to get off at Princess Parkway/ Yew Tree Lane. It takes approx. 30 mins. Timetables can be found here:

Car/Minibus: There is limited parking at the venue so please do your best to car share as much as possible.


Taxi: Taxis from the airport and Manchester and Stockport stations should be approx. £15.

From the M60 Clockwise (North-East):



  1. Leave the M60 at Junction 4 onto the M56

  2. Leave the M56 at Junction 2 following signs for A560 Altrincham.

  3. At the roundabout take the second exit following signs for A560 Altrincham.

  4. At the next roundabout also take the second exit following signs for A560 Altrincham.

  5. At the next roundabout take the third exit signposted A5103 Manchester.

  6. Stay in the left hand lane to exit at the first junction signposted B5166 Sale Moor.

  7. At the end of the slip road turn left onto the B5167 Wythenshawe Road.

  8. Follow the final directions below...

From the M60 Anti-Clockwise (North-West):



  1. Leave the M60 at Junction 5

  2. Stay in the left hand lane so as soon as you join the A5103 you leave it again.

  3. At the traffic lights at the bottom of the slip road turn right onto the B5167

  4. Follow the final directions below...

From the M56 (South):



  1. Leave the M56 at Junction 3A onto the A5103 signposted Manchester.

  2. Take the second exit off the A5103 signposted B5166 Sale Moor.

  3. At the end of the slip road turn left onto the B5167 Wythenshawe Road.

Final Directions:



  1. After 100m the road forks. Take the right hand fork which becomes the B5166 Sale Road signposted Sale Moor.

  2. After a further 400m take the second right into Rackhouse Road.

  3. At the end of the road turn right onto Yewtree Lane.

  4. Take the first left onto Willenhall Road signposted University of Manchester Sports Ground.

  5. Follow Willenhall Road under the motorway and then take the first left.

  6. Follow this down to the venue; the car park is on the right hand side.

  7. Please do not park on the road as you may end up with a parking ticket!

Some SatNavs and Google Maps suggest you can access the venue direct from the M60 if you use the venue postcode which obviously you can’t!! So I suggest you use the postcode M23 0DT which is for Willenhall Road, Wythenshawe, Manchester. Once you get there, follow directions 5-7 above.

For those teams in the 'Midlands' - you might know who you are ... if not then check the map of regions on the website: www.stalbansultimate.co.uk/regionals2011 where I've also included a list of Counties and known teams from the UKU website.


Please forward this information to any contacts you have with any clubs, especially Junior ones, in the Midlands region.

This is planned as a one-day qualifying event for the UKU Nationals in August, but we will have plenty of capacity & would encourage any teams interested in a competitive, local tournament to enter. We hope to get some Junior Teams along so get the word out there!

Open and Women's Tour 2, 2011 will be held in Nottingham.

The tournament will be at Nottingham University's Grove Farm playing fields. These are off Lenton Lane in Nottingham, opposite Nottingham Trent University. This location is in the heart of the UK, with easy access to the M1/M6, and is a key rail hub. East Midlands airport is not-too-far-away either.

 

Entries for Open & Women’s Tour 2 are now open.

 

 

This tournament encompasses all tours (A, B, C & W) in the one location. Entry is the low, low price of £170.

 

Registration is now open; and teams should be aware of the following deadlines:

Camping will not be provided. We will be directing those who want to to a nearby campsite, however, at the National Watersports Centre (NG12 2LU). You can book in advance with them for £8.50 per tent (with one adult) and a further £3.50 for each additional adult. This site has all the amenities you’d expect from a campsite, with a fully-licensed bar open late too. Contact: nwsccampsite@nottscc.gov.uk to book yourselves there. 

 

 

 

If you’d rather not camp, there are plenty of hotels and hostels within the city centre (the venue is just 3 miles from Nottingham centre); many of which are still offering £25 stays.

 

London Ultimate Corporate tournament

On Saturday 7th of May London Ultimate will be hosting a corporate tournament in Totting Bec common - nearest tube station is Balham and it’s the same venue we use for summer league.


 This is your chance to show your colleagues what ultimate is all about. I know there are already a fair few work based teams out there but it would be great to see some new entries too. Don’t worry if your workmates have never played ultimate before, on the morning of the event we are also running a beginners skills session meaning they can come down and get a comprehensive introduction before battling it out for corporate glory.
