Details

Mixed Tour 1 is going to be held at Llanrumney Sports Fields in Cardiff on
March the 27th and 28th. We've been really lucky to secure this venue again (especially due to the bad weather) which is used by The Cardiff Blues, Cardiff City FC and various international touring rugby teams!

Amongst other things, we've got staff members from the grounds there to help with the running of the tournament; for example making sure that pitch side water containers are re-filled, keeping the pitches in good condition and providing overnight security.

There are over 20 changing rooms that all have hot water 24 hours a day. Camping and the party will be on site. There are also other local accommodation options for those who fancy something a bit more up market.

Those of you who have been to a Cardiff tournament know what to expect and we hope to improve on last time wherever possible.

A + W divisions will be held at Richardson Evans Memorial Playing Fields in Wimbledon, London.

Tour 1 will have an exciting extra twist this year with a number of top European Clubs making plans to attend both the Open and Women's divisions in the run-up to WUCC 2010.  The list of teams is shown on the right hand side of this page (in no particular order).

The schedule will be available as soon as possible, but for now:

Games on Saturday will not start before 9am.  Some teams will get a later start and we'll try to confirm who they are as soon as we can.  We are planning for all games to be completed by just after 6pm - although most teams will finish in the previous time slot.

Games on Sunday will start earlier than usual - possibly 8:30am - to help visiting teams complete their games and catch their flights.  This will affect most teams.

The final time slot will start at approx 2pm.  We are planning to start the finals at 2.30pm, but reserve the right to move it earlier if one or more of the finalists have flights to catch.

Price:

How to register:

Please complete the event registration form.

Entry and final payment deadline is 30th April 2010.

Teams that had finished in the top 20 of the UKU Tour Rankings 2009 should register their interest.  New UK teams that believe they may be in the top 20 should register their interest and send additional information as to why they should be ranked at this level.

Teams outside the top 16 from 2009 will be given an extension on the payment deadline depending on how quickly we can resolve which and how many of those teams can enter.

Accomodation and transport:

Public Transport

PLEASE CHECK TRANSPORT FOR LONDON WEBSITE for the latest details and planned disruption.

This venue is very easy to reach by public transport. get a train or tube to Putney station (NOT East Putney!!!!) and then exit. Directly outside, is a bus stop where the 85 heads straight to the fields. Get on the 85 and it will head out of Putney and onto the back roads alongside the A3. Stay with the bus until it reaches a T junction with the A3. It will turn right here and then you need to wait until the bus has passed Asda and Texaco on the left and get off by the Roehampton Campus stop. The fields are there on your left. You can get to Putney quickly from Clapham Junction, Vauxhall, Waterloo and also on the District line. You should be able to reach the grounds easily from places like Kingston (e.g. using the #85 in the opposite direction) and Wimbledon but please check http://www.tfl.gov.uk/

Coming by car

You can only get to the fields from the southbound A3. The turning into the grounds is at the bottom of the hill after Roehampton, just after a large ASDA superstore (on the left) and basically opposite the Robin Hood Gate entrance to Richmond Park.

If you are coming from outside London the simplest route is to use Jn 10 of the M25 which puts you on the A3. Arguably it might be quicker to cross London if coming from the North or West depending on the time of day.  If coming North up the A3 towards London, you will NOT be able to access the fields unless you turn around and head back down the southbound side of the road. To do this, follow the A3 towards London and at the Robin Hood roundabout (A308 to Kingston on your left) head straight on and then take the next left turn, signposted to Putney Vale Cemetary. This will take you under the road and allow you to join the A3 heading south on the other side. Rejoin the A3, stay in the left hand lane and then take the left turn which will be sign-posted Richardson Evans. If you miss the turning, as it's quite possible to do, then don't panic, get in the right hand lane and do another one 180 degree turn at the roundabout and try again!

Accommodation

There will be free camping available on site.

If we can get any local hotel deals set up we'll let you know.

University Mixed Indoor Nationals

Event date:
27 Feb 2010 - 09:00 - 28 Feb 2010 - 17:00
Event details:

This year there will be two divisions at University Mixed indoor Nationals for the first time; allowing more teams the chance to compete at the highest level at an excellent venue. The tournament will have room for up to 40 teams in one hall on state of the art 3G pitches. This is an experience not to be missed.

Contact email:

derrykboyd@googlemail.com

Price:
£115 per team
How to register:

To register send an e mail to Derryk Boyd at the above address no later than the Friday following your regional qualifiers. Payment should be received no later than the following Friday after registering. Failure to meet the above deadlines may result in your place being offered to and taken by the next available team.

Accomodation and transport:

Due to the size of the tournament, accommodation on Glasgow players floors can only be guaranteed for teams travelling from the WEST, SOUTH EAST and MIDLANDS at the minute, teams from the North and Scotland will be allocated space if there is any left. As floor space is limited I would advise as many teams as possible to take advantage of the many hostel/budget hotel options available in Glasgow (especially if your sports union offers funding for accommodation). Glasgow central travelodge allows easy access to the venue by train and has rooms for around £40 per night based on 3 sharing (but usually has 4 beds per room)

There are also lots of Hostels in the Glasgow area that offer beds for around £10 per night, some may be able to offer group rates if you phone and ask and you might be able to book a whole room just for your team.

A map of the venue and the closest train stations (5-10 min walk) is available here http://maps.google.co.uk/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&msid=111036120970042171959.0004778015f4ee6755d7d&z=15

Trains leave from Glasgow central to these stops on a regular basis.

South East University Mixed Indoor Regionals

Submitted by DaveHalls on Tue, 05/01/2010 - 11:25pm
Event date:
23 Jan 2010 - 12:00
Event details:

The tournament will take place at the Madejski Stadium Dome in Reading on the 23rd January 2010. The pitches are the same as trained on by Reading Football Club, and are kept in world class condition. The pitches utilise 3G artificial turf, and are completely sheltered from the elements. Also, this will be only a one-day tournament. This is because the date for Regionals falls during exam season for many Universities, thus freeing up time to revise/procrastinate on the Sunday.

The day will be starting late morning, running into the (fairly) late evening.

There will be 16 spaces available, on a first-come-first-served basis.

Due to the closeness of the event, we are going to be working to a very tight schedule. As such I am asking teams to get in contact as soon as possible and sort payment out similarly swiftly. I appreciate not all Universities will be back until next week so the chances of getting a Union-signed-off cheque in the post this week are slim.
