Junior Women's Indoor Nationals 2014-15

Submitted by benheywood on Tue, 14/10/2014 - 5:18pm
Event date:
30 Nov 2014 - 09:00 - 17:00
Event details:

This year's Junior Women's Indoor Nationals will be held on Sunday November 30th at Ellowes Hall Sports College, Dudley.  There will be space for 16 teams. The event will run from approximately 9:30am to 5pm.

Info Pack now available -

http://goo.gl/GRAxAk

or in pdf form below.

A DRAFT schedule is now out - please have a look and spot any errors!

http://goo.gl/7QicsS

Don't base any travel decisions on this as it may change if we find errors - we'll confirm it by thursday evening hopefully. If you have any comments (e.g. 'we REALLY need to start later please!') do get in touch and we'll try to make adjustments if possible.

A pdf version is below if that's easier for you to view.

-----------------

Entry into the tournament will cost £60 per team.  Payment will be made directly to UKU.  In order to secure a place in the tournament, please fill in the form here:

http://www.ukultimate.com/event_entry_form

Please note that the initial deadline for entries will be Friday 7th November. The deadline is relatively early (3 weeks from the tournament) in order that we can confirm who has a spot in plenty of time to organise your transport etc.

After this deadline, spaces in the tournament may be allocated to second and third teams. If you would like to enter more than one team, please read the details below before entering, and be aware that they may not all get in (and won't be confirmed until after 7th November).

If you have a small number of players but not enough for a full team (or enough for 1 but not quite enough for 2), get in touch because it's likely that others will be in the same position and we could combine players so that more girls get to take part.

Eligibility:
Players should be born in 1995 or later. Where possible teams should be made up of girls from a single club / school / organisation but where that is not possible, the first option should be to pick up for the most local team.  If you want to play for a team that is not your school or most local team, please get in touch and we will do what we can to make sure that this is done fairly.

Multiple teams:
The number of teams at this tournament has varied hugely in the past.  We have taken the decision to stick to 16 teams for ease of organisation. Places will initially be reserved for first teams. Any additional teams will be placed on a waiting list.  These teams will be given spaces if they are still available after the initial deadline (November 17th), with priority going to second teams, then third teams if appropriate.  We expect there will be spaces for a several 2nd / 3rd teams and these will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

Club Open Indoor Regionals - Scotland

Submitted by benheywood on Fri, 18/07/2014 - 4:47pm
Event date:
6 Dec 2014 - 12:00 - 18:00
Event details:

Scottish Club Open Indoor Regionals will be held on this date in Glasgow. Please note that:

- Other events will be held in Fenton (Stoke on Trent), Plymouth and Crawley on the 17/18 January (more details to follow)

- 'Regions' are not strict in Club indoors; any team can attend any event, including the Scottish one if the dates suit better (and if they can get there!)

- BUT of course you can't attend more than one region, and you can't play for a different team at Nationals than you did in qualifiers. That should be obvious, but just in case...

The event is slated to run from 12-5pm on loads of pitches, getting the whole thing done nice and quickly. There is likely to be the option to book more hall time if needed, so there is probably no limit on teams (though we may have to limit it based on scheduling concerns - e.g. 16 is much better than 17; 32 much better than 33).

Women's teams are encouraged to enter, and assuming we get more than 4 (which we will) we'll run a separate women's division alongside the open. If we did get bvery few weomen's teams, we would tey to rig the schedule so that they all played each other and also played a couple of other games against open teams. So enter away!

This is a rubbercrumb venue, and likely to be not that warm. More details in Info Pack nearer the time of course.

Enter through the Entry Form.

The closing date will be one week before - Friday 28th November.

UKU Regionals 2014 - London

Submitted by Si Hill on Mon, 07/07/2014 - 11:02am
Event date:
26 Jul 2014 - 09:00 - 18:00
Event details:

London Regionals will take place at Richardson Evans Memorial Playing Fields on Sat 26th July.

The event is open to any ultimate team based in London.  We expect five teams will qualify for UKU Nationals on 23-24 August in Southampton.  This will be confirmed prior to the event.

The London event will be run on a very simple basis (rather like LWL event-days at the same venue).  Toilets and changing rooms are available; we do not expect to have any food on sale.

TEAMS THAT EXPECT/WANT/HOPE TO QUALIFY FOR NATIONALS AND/OR XEUCF SHOULD TAKE NOTE OF THE ROSTER/ELIGIBILITY RULES THAT GOVERN REGIONALS-NATIONALS-EUCS AS THEY DIFFER FROM UKU TOUR.

See UKU Competition Rules 2014 (section 2.3 in particular)

CLOSING DATE FOR ENTRIES IS WED 16TH JULY.

PAYMENT IS REQUIRED BY WED 23RD JULY.

Accomodation and transport:

This venue is very easy to reach by public transport:

  • Get a train or tube to Putney station (NOT East Putney!!!!) and then exit.
  • Directly outside, is a bus stop where the 85 heads straight to the fields.
  • Get on the 85 and it will head out of Putney and onto the back roads alongside the A3.
  • Stay with the bus until it reaches a T junction with the A3.
  • It will turn right here and then you need to wait until the bus has passed Asda and Texaco on the left and get off by the Roehampton Campus stop.
  • The fields are there on your left.

You can get to Putney quickly from Clapham Junction, Vauxhall, Waterloo and also on the District line.

You should be able to reach the grounds easily from places like Kingston (e.g. using the #85 in the opposite direction) and Wimbledon but please check http://www.tfl.gov.uk/

Driving

You can only get to the fields from the southbound A3.
The turning into the grounds is at the bottom of the hill after Roehampton, just after a large ASDA superstore (on the left) and basically opposite the Robin Hood Gate entrance to Richmond Park.

If you are coming from outside London the simplest route is to use Jn 10 of the M25 which puts you on the A3. Arguably it might be quicker to cross London if coming from the North or West depending on the time of day.

If coming North up the A3 towards London, you will NOT be able to access the fields unless you turn around and head back down the southbound side of the road. To do this, follow the A3 towards London and at the Robin Hood roundabout (A308 to Kingston on your left) head straight on and then take the next left turn, signposted to Putney Vale Cemetery. This will take you under the road and allow you to join the A3 heading south on the other side. Re-join the A3, stay in the left hand lane and then take the left turn which will be sign-posted Richardson Evans.

If you miss the turning, as it's quite possible to do, then don't panic, get in the right hand lane and do another one 180 degree turn at the roundabout and try again!

Priority will go to those who finished in the top half of last year's Sunburn tournament at this same venue, and then to established clubs (i.e. a new pick-up team is unlikely to get in ahead of either an established Tour team or a group of players with a history of attending beach tournaments together under a consistent name).

We intend to run a lottery for places if the tournament is oversubscribed at the closing date. Again, the established teams will get priority, and a lottery would involve only those teams; other teams will only obtain spaces (again by lottery if needed) if there are too few 'priority' teams to fill the tournament.

We will be accepting payments before the closing date. If we are oversubscribed at this point and your team is not entered after the lottery, you will receive a refund.

Accomodation and transport:

We regret that accommodation will not be provided at this tournament. A list of hotels and campsites can be provided on request.
