UKU Junior Women's Indoor Nationals 2019-20

Submitted by Ant on Fri, 13/09/2019 - 9:00am
Event date:
16 Nov 2019 (All day)
Event details:

The UKU Under-14, Under-17 and Under-20 Women's Indoor Championships 2019-20 will be held on Saturday 16th November 2019, at Cranford SuperDome in Hounslow. We will have 4 pitches available for the day, giving us plenty of room for teams who wish to enter.

Please note that, due to venue availability, this event will run from early afternoon until the evening. More accurate timings will be released once entries are confirmed, but please account for being on site from 1pm until 8pm as a maximum.

Please note that unlike many other sports, Ultimate tournaments are always played out for position all the way down - so even teams ranked towards the lower end of their division will still play a Quarter, Semi and Final in their bracket. Even the most inexperienced team will still expect to play the same number of games as the winners - you don't get knocked out early at these events. Come and join in the fun!

Eligibility

There is no qualifying round, and no 'minimum standard' that your team must meet - there will certainly be teams of beginners participating. If you are a newly formed school team, you are very, very much invited!

  • To be eligible for the UKU Under-20 division, you must be born on or after 1st January 2000 (i.e. not turning 20 before the end of the year).
  • To be eligible for the UKU Under-17 division you must be in Year 11 or below (the rules for UK Domestic competition differ slightly to International competition).
  • To be eligible for the UKU Under-14 division you must be in Year 8 or below.

Players playing for UKU-affiliated schools playing as school teams are not required to have membership.

All other players must have minimum Basic Membership of UK Ultimate.

Please contact Joe Wyatt (joewyatt7@gmail.com) if there are any queries.

If you are a player or a small group of players without enough for a full team, then it may be possible to arrange for you to join up with another team; everyone involved in Junior Ultimate wants you there. HOWEVER you must explain your situation to the Junior Forum (email to: joewyatt7@gmail.com is sufficient) and have them ratify which is the most appropriate team for you to join with.

Please also note that eligibilty decisions are made by volunteers - we're keen to help out, but do make sure to get your requests in early to make that easier.

Entry

Entry for this event is NOW OPEN. Click HERE to be taken to the event booking page.

After the entry deadline we will post the list of confirmed teams on both our website and the Schools Newsletter.

We do expect that we will still have a few places remaining after that date so it is certainly worth getting in touch if you have left it late - but those spaces will be awarded on a first come first served basis and it can't be guaranteed that you'll be awarded a spot, so ideally make sure that you enter before the deadline!

If the tournament is oversubscribed at the closing date (unlikely, but you never know) we will prioritise first teams from each institution, and then second teams above third teams etc all the way down. If the cut-off happens to fall between teams at the same level (e.g. 4th teams from two institutions) then priority will go to whoever entered on the earliest date (or be decided by the drawing of lots if we can't separate them by date). Once the initial deadline has passed, places are confirmed, and the entry of a new first team will not 'bump' someone's 7th team anymore - it's literally first come first served at that stage for any remaining places.

Accommodation

Hopefully the timing will mean that the majority of teams might be able to travel on the morning of the event rather than needing accommodation. But for those where this isn't possible, places like www.travelodge.co.uk often have good deals.

If you are really struggling for accommodation, please get in touch on events@ukultimate.com and we will do what we can to assist with suggestions, but we do not offer accommodation as part of the tournament.

Team Sizes and Planning

Clubs must ensure that they have appropriate levels of adult supervision in place for the event.

Based on past experience please note that you should not enter a team unless you have at least 8 fit players able to travel, though more than this is recommended.

We also strongly recommend that teams plan to have a non-playing adult travelling with the team. There have been instances where small teams have had an injury, and a second player has had to accompany the injured player to hospital, leaving behind a team that is too small to continue. This not only spoils the tournament for the team concerned, but also for their opposition who have travelled and paid to play games, only to find they have a walkover - not ideal for anyone.

Multiple Teams

Clubs/schools are welcome to enter more than one team. We don't anticipate having to limit the number of teams attending this event, but in the event that the tournament becomes oversubscribed, clubs entering multiple additional teams may find lower ranked teams placed on a waiting list.

UKU U17 & U14 Open Indoor Nationals 2019/20

Submitted by Ant on Sun, 25/08/2019 - 6:42pm
Event date:
1 Feb 2020 (All day) - 2 Feb 2020 (All day)
Event details:

The UKU Under-17 and Under-14 Open Indoor Championships 2019/20 will be held over the weekend of Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd February 2020, at the same venue as the last few years - Aldersley Leisure Village in Wolverhampton. We will have ALL 4 pitches in the main sports hall (hardcourt surface; indoor trainers required), so this should give us plenty of room for all who wish to enter!

Games will start at approximately 10am on the Saturday and we will aim for games to be finished at 5pm on the Sunday, followed by a short presentation/award ceremony.

Please note that unlike many other sports, Ultimate tournaments are always played out for position all the way down - so even teams ranked e.g. 17th-24th in their division will still play a Quarter, Semi and Final in their bracket. Even the most inexperienced team will still expect to play the same number of games as the winners - you don't get knocked out early at these events! Come and join in the fun.

Eligibility

There is no qualifying round, and no 'minimum standard' that your team must meet - there will certainly be teams of beginners participating. If you are a newly formed school team, you are very, very much invited!

To be eligible for the UKU Under-17 division you must be in Year 11 or below (the rules for UK Domestic competition differ slightly to International competition).

To be eligible for the UKU Under-14 division you must be in Year 8 or below.

As the tournament is Open, there are no gender restrictions - all-male teams, or all-female teams, or anything in between, are absolutely fine.

Please contact Joe Wyatt (joewyatt7@gmail.com) if there are any queries.

If you are a player or a small group of players without enough for a full team, then it may be possible to arrange for you to join up with another team; everyone involved in Junior Ultimate wants you there. Entry

Entry for this event will be via GoMembership. Further details (including opening and closing dates for entries) will be confirmed in due course.

The team fee for this event will be announced soon.

After the entry deadline we will post the list of confirmed teams on both our website and the Schools Newsletter.

It is very possible that this event will be filled following the closing date for entries (we hope to be able to accommodate all entries made by the closing date). Any remaining spaces will be awarded on a first come first served basis and it can't be guaranteed that you'll be awarded a spot, so ideally make sure that you enter before the deadline!

If the tournament is oversubscribed at the closing date, we will prioritise first teams from each institution, and then second teams above third teams etc all the way down. Accommodation

Hopefully the central location will mean that some teams might be able to travel home rather than needing accommodation on the Saturday night, but for some of you that clearly won't be possible. Places like www.travelodge.co.uk (and there are a number around the motorways or Wolverhampton!) often have good deals, and there are a smattering of Youth Hostels nearby (www.yha.org.uk).

If you are really struggling for accommodation, please get in touch on events@ukultimate.com and we will do what we can to assist with suggestions, but we do not offer accommodation as part of the tournament.

Event date:
29 Feb 2020 (All day) - 1 Mar 2020 (All day)

The UKU Junior (U20) Open Indoor Championships will be held over this weekend, at the same venue as in previous years - Aldersley Leisure Village in Wolverhampton.

Games will start at approximately 10am on the Saturday and we will aim for games to be finished at 5pm on the Sunday, followed by a short presentation/award ceremony.

Eligibility

There is no qualifying round, and no 'minimum standard' that your team must meet - there will certainly be teams of beginners participating. If you are a newly formed school team, you are very, very much invited!

As per the UKU Junior eligibility rules, to be eligible for this UKU Under-20 division you must have been born on or after January 1st 2001.

Please contact Junior Coordinator Joe Wyatt (joewyatt7@gmail.com) if there are any queries.

If you are a player or a small group of players without enough for a full team locally, then it may be possible to arrange for you to join up with another team; everyone involved in Junior Ultimate wants you there. HOWEVER you must explain your situation to the Junior Forum (email to: joewyatt7@gmail.com is sufficient) and have them ratify which is the most appropriate team for you to join with. It is NOT appropriate for teams to be formed from friends all over the country (e.g. GB players) without checking with the Junior coordinator.

Please also note that eligibilty decisions are made by volunteers - we're keen to help out, but do make sure to get your requests in early to make that easier.

Entry

Entry for this event will be run via GoMembership. The opening and closing dates for entries will be advertised in due course.

The team fee for this event will be announced soon.

After the entry deadline we will post the list of confirmed teams on both our website and the Schools Newsletter.

Once the initial deadline has passed, places are confirmed, and the entry of a new first team will not 'bump' someone's 7th team anymore - it's literally first come first served at that stage for any remaining places.

Please note that while we do not demand payment in order to secure your spot (we are aware how slow the payment process can be at some institutions) any team who is entered as of the closing date should consider themselves committed to payment even if they subsequently drop out. Obviously if circumstances are very much out of your control then we may make an exception, but in general when we allocate you a spot without pre-payment we must trust that you will pay at some point - otherwise we would just have a situation where everyone entered 12 teams and then withdrew whatever they didn't want. Any entry is normally considered binding if you have not withdrawn it BEFORE the closing date (unless, of course, you don't get a place due to oversubscription - we won't charge you for that!).

UKU Junior Mixed Outdoor Nationals 2019-20

Event details:

Schedule: https://bit.ly/2nY5tO3

Info Pack: https://bit.ly/2o9Anmn

We are pleased to announce that UK Ultimate will be holding our first ever UKU Junior Mixed Outdoor Nationals event on Saturday 5th October 2019. This will be a ONE DAY event, held at St Bede's Catholic College, Long Cross, Bristol.

This event will be played according to the specifications used at the International School Sports Federation's Ultimate World Schools Championships event:

- 5-a-side

- reduced size pitches (66m x 24m; 12m endzones)

- 2-3 gender split on pitch at all times

However, game duration will be varied by age category.

As this is the first year that we have offered this event, we strongly advise against booking any non-cancellable accommodation or transport until we are able to confirm the viability of the event and each of the divisions. We expect to be able to provide updates on this prior to the entry deadline, but no team's place at the tournament is guaranteed unless officially confirmed by UK Ultimate.

All teams must be mixed gender and able to conform to the required gender split throughout the tournament. Please ensure that you have sufficient players of both genders available before making your entry. Single gender schools interested in attending should contact us on events@ukultimate.com, so that we can try to match you to a suitable school of the opposite gender to enter a combined team.

We are aware that it can be tricky to organise logistics for something like this, especially with the timing of this event close to the summer holidays and as a new event to the calendar. We want to see as many of you there as possible, so please get in touch on events@ukultimate.com if you have any questions at all, or are struggling to meet the entry deadlines, please get in touch so that we can help you out and account for you in our planning.

Entry is via GoMembership. Click HERE to be taken to the event booking page.

Membership/Affiliation requirements:

Players playing for UKU-affiliated schools playing as school teams are not required to have membership.

All other players must have minimum Basic Membership of UK Ultimate.

Team sizes and planning:

Clubs must ensure that they have appropriate levels of adult supervision in place for the event.

Based on past experience please note that you should not enter a team unless you have at least 8 fit players (4 of each gender) able to travel, though more than this is recommended.

We also strongly recommend that teams plan to have a non-playing adult travelling with the team. There have been instances where small teams have had an injury, and a second player has had to accompany the injured player to hospital, leaving behind a team that is too small to continue. 30 Jun 2019 (All day)
Event details:

We are pleased to announce that UKU Junior (U20) Outdoor Nationals & Schools National Championships 2018-19 will be a one day event held at the University of Leicester Playing Fields, Stoughton Road on Sunday 30th June 2019.

Junior Nationals is played 7-a-side (full-size pitches)

UKU Schools National Championship Finals is played 5-a-side (reduced size pitches)

All events are Open divisions (i.e. no restrictions on gender) - there's nothing to prevent either an all-male or all-female team, or anywhere in between. A large percentage of teams will be mixed gender, so bring whatever mix of players you like!

We are of course aware that it can be tricky to organise logistics for something like this, but we'd love to have as many of you there as possible, so do please get in touch on the email below with any questions at all and we'll do what we can to help you make it happen.

Entry is through GoMembership. Click HERE to be taken to the event booking page.

JUNIOR NATIONALS

Player Eligibility: Born on or after 1st Jan 2000

All other players must have minimum Basic Membership of UK Ultimate.

UKU SCHOOLS CHAMPIONSHIP FINALS

Player Eligibility: We expect to run 2 divisions.

For the Y11 Division, all players must be in Year 11 or lower.

For the Y8 Division, all players must be in Year 8 or lower.

Team Eligibility:

All teams must be strictly school teams.  In the future we expect all teams will have to qualify through local qualification events.  For the time being, all school teams that wish to enter will be considered eligible.

Given that we are still not at the stage of having numerous regional qualifiers, for now we WILL accept multiple entries from one school (only if there is room of course - priority always given to 1st teams). This should NOT be taken to mean that this will always be possible in the future, but for now we see no benefit in turning teams away.

Membership/Affiliation requirements:

Players do not need individual membership provided the school is UKU-affiliated. Please contact admin[at]ukultimate.com for more information on Schools Affiliation.

Team sizes and planning:

RULES: Please remember this is a 5-a-side competition played to the “UKU-Schools” adapted rules with smaller playing area, and relatively short games.  Exact game-lengths and tournament format will depend on the number of teams that enter.
