UKU Mixed Tour 2 will be held on this date at Salford Sports Village, Salford M7 3NQ

 

We are pleased to announce that entries are now open through the UKU Entry Form and will cost £185.

The initial closing date will be Friday 3rd April - after this date any remaining spaces will be first come first served. You must enter AND pay before that date to secure your spot.

Please note also that we cannot guarantee to accept all teams due to space and scheduling considerations - if the tournament is full at the closing date, the criteria for deciding which teams get a spot are below, in order of application:

- Teams ranked in the top 32 of the previous tournament
- Foreign teams believed likely by the UKU Competitions Committee to finish in the top 16
- Teams whose participation the UKU Competitions Committee believe will benefit the growth of
Ultimate – for example, but not limited to, local teams who may not yet be ready to travel to other
tournaments, or teams based in underrepresented geographical areas
- Teams unable to enter the previous event due to over-subscription or non-entry
- Remaining teams, in order of their finish at the previous tournament

 

Note that this does put pressure on those near the bottom to finish as high as they can at MT1!

Note also that we have had many issues over the years with teams securing a spot and then pulling out. Not only is this a hassle, but also it often means that teams who could have entered miss out initially and then struggle to get a team together again at very short notice. If you are entered as of the 3rd April, you will NOT BE REFUNDED unless you can show genuinely exceptional circumstances - it is simply not fair for teams who are less than certain of their participation to clog up the available spaces, so be very sure you have a team even if a couple of players were to get injured.

Please be aware that this is a new venue for a Tour event, and there will inevitably be some teething issues. Some of our regular venues are unavailable and it remains very hard to source large grass venues during football season; below are some of the possible issues that were flagged up when running Uni Mixed Nationals in Salford and our tentative proposed solutions.

Parking: There is only a small car park at the venue, which will will use mainly for drop-off. We will be providing a shuttle bus from a nearby secure parking area - Castle Irwell Student Village,  Cromwell Road, Salford M6 6DB. Drivers should offload their passengers and then make their way to the car park (only 1 mile; buses approx every 5 mins which will take 3 mins to get you back). You will need a Player Pass to access the car park - attached below. (You can either print this or just have a pic on your phone).

Water: We are not able to get vehicles onto the grass to refill water-points. Instead, we intend to provide each team with their own two 5L bottles of water that they can refill whenever they are back at the building - this should provide sufficient water to refill their personal bottles during games. Nominate your JTM/water-carrier now!

Toilets: There is an appreciable walk from the farthest pitches to the toilets, but again due to the lack of vehicle access we cannot put portaloos at the far end to alleviate this problem. And as it's mixed, we also can't put the Women's games on the pitches near the builiding of course! We intend to write the schedule with fewer back-to-back games than we would normally use, so that people are game-on-game-off almost all of the time and are able to head back to the building more often.

Shelter: Again, it's a good walk to the main building from the far pitches, and we cannot set up large marquees at this venue. We intend to purchase additional gazebos/event shelters to provide some additional protection from the elements - but be aware this will clearly not be enough to shelter every player and will only mitigate the problem somewhat rather than solving it. Bring warm clothes and waterproofs!

The league will run as it did last year with 3 standalone 1/2 day tournaments for each division, which can be entered separately. However, if you enter all 3 events in 1 division, you could be crowned one of the League Champions & SOTG Champion.

Mixed (2 divisions)
  • Sun 4th January 
  • Sat 24th January
  • Sat 28th February

Most of the events are timed to be 1 or 2 weeks before Regional & National tournaments in the University & Club divisions to give teams an opportunity for a warm up.


Where:

SportHouse, Mayesbrook Park, Lodge Avenue, Dagenham, London, RM8 2JR (directions, map, public transport, etc, here)

Isn't it just gorgeous!

This means that pitches will be HUGE (40m x 20m) with lots of space around the courts for those greatest attempts ...


Who:

The league is open to all teams, restricted only by the standard indoor mixed rules of a 2:3 Male:Female or Female:Male split.

  • 09:00 - 12:40 or 12:40 - 16:20
  • Minimum 5 x 20 minute games
  • Compact Ultimate (1 game breaks)

  • Physio / Sports Therapist ice are on hand
  • Free parking & WIFI available throughout the venue


Prizes:

We are working on getting some sponsorship for the league like last year. More on this as we confirm things!

We have now sorted the venue for this years new next generation LWL, we are open to teams from around London getting involved, if we are oversubscribed priority will be given based on prior presence at LWL events, then in order or registration so get in early if you can.

Venue:  The new venue is a lush pair of 3G fields in St Albans at de Havilland Campus, Hatfield Business Park, Mosquito Way, Hatfield, AL10 9EU.

Facilities:  The facilities are spectacular not only are they weather proof they offer great traction and flat as a pancake, unfortunately no mud is included but we will have changing rooms, coffee shop (starbucks coffee), bar (snacks and food available) and there is masses of parking (free of charge), with all of this how could you say no.

Pitches:  There will be four pitches marked out for us.

Teams/Games:  We will have capacity for up to 16 teams with at least 3 games per team per event.

Mix & Mingle 2015

Event details: 

Mix & Mingle returns to Ponds Forge in Sheffield on the 7/8 February 2015 with a couple of small differences to the usual party format. The usual 80s theme is being replaced with a slightly wider reaching 'RETRO' theme and tournaments from now on will be given a tag line from which you can determine your party costume. There will, of course, still be a huge amount of 80s music, it will just be mixed in with a bit of 60s, 70s and 90s too.

Entry will now be split into two categories, Priority and Standard. Priority entries get a guaranteed place (up to the maximum capacity of the event) and also get a little longer to pay up. Standard entries may be subject to a ballot depending on the number of spaces remaining to be filled.

PRIORITY ENTRY

Entry period: Monday 20th October - Friday 31st October 2014

Entries are limited to one per team, and are only to come from teams on the following list:

- the top 8 teams from 2014

- any past M&M champions

- any non-UK teams

- Sheffield Steal

- Sheffield University

- Sheffield Hallam University

- other invited teams

Priority entries must be received by 23:59 on Friday 31st October 2014. Any entries received after this time will be entered as 'standard'. Payment details will be confirmed within 48 hours of receiving your completed registration form.

STANDARD ENTRY

Entry period: Saturday 1st November - Friday 14th November 2014

On the weekend of 15th/16th November, a ballot will take place for any remaining places not taken by priority entries. Successful teams will be contacted and payment details will be provided.

All successful teams, both priority and standard, must ensure payment is received by 23:59 on Friday 28th November. On the weekend of 29th/30th November, any unclaimed/unpaid places will be offered to teams on the waiting list.

Flyght Club's Pitch Hog

Event details: 
Flyght Club, Nottingham's open team, are proud to announce "Pitch Hog", an intense mixed indoor tournament on the weekend of 8th-9th November. 
The aim of this tournament is to offer as much pitch time as possible to every team. This means that the entry fee is higher than normal, but in exchange you get 12 games, each 23 minutes long, totalling over 4.5hrs of pitch time. The tournament will run as one big round-robin, so you will get to play every team there, before the teams pair off for a 'final' to decide your finishing position. 
Details are as follows:
  Date - 8th and 9th November
  Times - 0900-1700 each day
  Venue - Nottingham Wildcats Basketball Arena, Greenwood Road, Nottingham
  Format - 12 team, Indoor Mixed, 23 minute games, 12 games total.
  Cost - £160 per team, but with an early bird rate of £150 if paid by 24th October
This is the same excellent venue that has been used for Copa de Crimbo, Copa Mistura and Damme Slamme in recent years. We're also organising some evening shenanigans for the Saturday night.
