Registration is now open for the annual Yindoors tournament hosted by York Ultimate!

Yindoors is an annual fun tournament held in York. This year we are back to our usual location, with refurbished facilities.
- 20 team Open division

- Massive party on the Saturday

Price: £120 or £130 including a donation to this year's chosen charity: Mind, the mental health charity. There to make sure no one has to face a mental health problem alone.

Lemmings Luau

Lemmings are back with their annual luau.. to be held for the last time at the Alan Higgs Centre in Coventry, prior to its demolishment and the building of a swimming pool commences.. Maybe fore 2019 we'll find somewhere warmer..?!

Hopefully you'll be able to join us.  Details will be updated on our facebook page (Lemmings Luau) and we'll tell you what day will be the open division and which day will be the women's and developer division.  As in previous years, the event is a one day tournament.

UKU Club Open & Women's Indoor Nationals 2017-18

Games will start at approximately 10am on Saturday and finish at about 5pm on Sunday.

 

Entry for this tournament will open on Monday 22nd January until Monday 5th February for both divisions and will cost £135. Teams are required to enter using the UKU Event Entry Form.

 

For the Open division, only teams that qualified through the Club Open Indoor Regional tournaments are eligible to enter (the list of whom can be found here), however, for the Women’s division there are 16 spaces available. If the Women’s division is oversubscribed at the time of the deadline, the following rules will apply, in order:

  • First teams will NOT get priority over second teams - it is so easy to simply change the name of a 'second team' to avoid such a rule, which would disadvantage those 'proper' clubs who have a real identity.
  • Teams not on the blacklist (for late dropouts at previous events) will get priority over those who are
  • Teams from UKU-Affiliated clubs will be given priority over those who aren't
  • Teams finishing in the top half of the same event in the previous year will be given priority.
  • To fill any remaining spaces at the tournament, the remaining teams who have not already been awarded a place will be selected by random draw.

Places MAY still be available later on a first-come first-served basis if the tournament is under-subscribed, and if the additional team(s) would not adversely affect the schedule, but no team - no matter how strong - would be guaranteed entry; if the tournament is full then the team(s) will be placed on a wait list to be awarded a space should one become available due to a drop out. Although please note that late entries may be charged an additional £30 fine.

 

 Once the entry deadline has passed, the list of confirmed teams will be published on the UKU website, sent out as one of our Event Newsletters and posted on Britdisc. Please do not expect an individual confirmation email - you need to keep an eye out for the announcement! However, if it’s after the deadline and you’re unsure whether your team has made it and/or you can’t find the information on the above, please email events@ukultimate.com and we will be able to confirm whether or not you have been awarded a space.

 

Although please note, the payment deadline for ALL teams is also Monday 5th February.

Upon submitting the UKU Event Entry form on behalf of your team, you agree to make payment of the full team entry fee by the stated payment deadline. For any team that does not send payment by the deadline and/or the payment has not been received, their place can be cancelled and awarded to the next team on the wait-list at the discretion of UKU.

 

If any teams pull out following the specified entry deadline (as above) a penalty will occur:

  • Teams that drop out after the entry deadline date will be liable for 50% of the fees.
  • Teams that drop out in the fortnight prior to the tournament will be liable for the full team fee and will not be refunded.

Sublime Warm-up 2017

Sublime (Portsmouth University) are hosting our annual indoor tournament, Sublime Warm-up, in November this year at Fareham Leisure centre.

The tournament will start at 9am on Saturday the 4th of November, finishing at 6pm for the day. Recommencing at 9am on the Sunday, 5th of November, finishing at 2pm.


Last year, for the first time, we introduced a women’s division which was a great success. We’ll be doing that again this year. We will have an Open and Women’s division, both welcome to beginners teams.


This tournament falls between University Mixed Indoor regionals, and the University Men’s and Women’s regionals. This event is the perfect occasion for Uni teams to get some team synergy, and vital practise before Men’s and Women’s regionals.


The cost per team, will be £130.


Accommodation will be provided in sublime player’s houses, for both the Friday and Saturday night, if required.

Regionals (South) will be held at Edenbridge RFC on 29th-30th July 2017 for all three divisons (Open, Women's and Mixed). 

The SOUTH region will be made up of South-West (SW), Wales (Wa), South-East (SE), Greater London (GL). 

In terms of the Open division regions used last year this effectively combines South-West & Wales, South-East, and London.

Ravenscraig: UMWIN 2015/16 in progress at the enormous Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility

 

UKU/BUCS University Indoor Nationals for both Women and Men (Div 1 & 2) will all be held alongside each other in the fabulous and enormous Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility in Motherwell, near Glasgow (ML1 2TZ).

This document shows the most up to date information we have regarding the timings and locations for these events.


It's a full size indoor 3G football pitch, 105x68m, giving us space for 6 full size pitches of very good size. There's also a balcony and cafe, and even some bleacher seating next to the pitch.

We aim to be finished by approx 4pm at the very latest on Sunday (schedule will finish around 3pm, but games may overrun) to get you on the road again, which means that Saturday will be quite a long day overall (9am-9pm). But we'll aim to schedule it so that no particular team is there the whole day.

There WILL be some floor-space available with the local University players or in scout huts etc, but this will of course be limited to those whose university will not support accommodation at a BUCS tournament - hopefully a good number of you will get that support for this event! A google form will be opened closer to the time asking which teams require accommodation. 

 


Entries are open from Tuesday 28th November 2017, and must be made through BUCS, not through UKU. Your University staff will have to enter you, as only they have access to the BUCS system. Go and see your AU staff ASAP and get your entries in - late entries have no guarantee of being accepted, even if it's something that appears not to be your fault (like staff not being in the office when you try and enter 10 mins before the deadline...). Get it sorted! And don't forget to do it before you or your AU go home for Christmas!! Entries won't be open when you get back and you HAVE to get it done at University.

 To be eligible to play you must have finished in one of the qualifying spots for your region; the number of bids per region is as outlined below:

Please be aware that if you DO NOT take up your qualifying spot from UMIR or UWIR then BUCS may fine you.   




UKU/BUCS Indoors Entry Rules

BUCS Regionals (Open/Women - see additional rules for Mixed below)


The closing date and payment date will be as announced by BUCS (to your Uni) and on our UKU event pages. BUCS will NOT accept late entries - no exceptions. It may be possible for us to institute a second round of entries after the first deadline has passed if the tournaments are undersubscribed, but these will be charged (by BUCS) at 20% over the initial price - and we cannot in any way guarantee to make space for teams who have missed the BUCS deadlines. Don't mess this up!

 

For tournaments that are over-subscribed at the closing date the following rules will apply, in order:

·         First teams will get priority over second teams, and second over third etc.

·         If there is insufficient room for all first teams, places will be awarded in the following order:

o   First teams finishing in the top half of the previous year’s tournament

o   First teams who didn’t enter the previous year’s tournament

o   Remaining first teams in order of their finishing position last year

·         If there are spaces remaining after all first teams have been awarded a space, second teams will be offered places in an order based on finishing position last year, and then third teams and so on

o   Second teams with no finishing position from last year will have a lower priority than those who attended – but still above all third teams (and so on)

If the cut-off happens to fall between 2 or more teams with no finishing position from last year, a lottery will be run between those teams to determine entry.

BUCS Nationals

The closing date and payment date will be as announced by BUCS. Entry is guaranteed for all qualifying teams provided they meet this deadline.

Should any teams fail to take up their spots, the places will be filled by the next-ranked team from one of the qualifying tournaments, with priority among regions determined according to the following (in order):

1.       The region(s) not yet offered an extra place under this process which had the fewest qualification spots originally

2.       The region from which the team dropped out

3.       The strongest regions, i.e.

a.       for Division 1, the region with the highest-ranked relegated team last year – but note that rule 1 means we ignore teams from regions already awarded a dropout-spot.

b.      for Division 2, the region with the highest average finishing position in Division 2 the previous year

c.       for Women’s, the region with the highest average finishing position last year.

4.       A lottery between regions that cannot be separated by the above

Mixed

Rules will be the same as for BUCS tournaments, with the following additions:

Late entries may be accepted, providing that they improve the schedule for others. We will not allow late entries which make the numbers worse.

·         Single-institution teams at a given level (e.g. 1st, 2nd etc) will have priority entry at regionals over any teams at the same level who have players from more than one institution.

·         UKU reserve the right to move clubs to a blacklist if any of their teams default from any UKU University tournament at late notice.

o   Blacklisted 1st teams will only get into non-BUCS tournaments if there is space for all 1st teams; 2nd/3rd/4th teams from blacklisted clubs will only get a space if the tournament is undersubscribed – i.e. someone else’s 4th team will get in ahead of your 2nd team.

UKU Juniors & Schools Women's Indoor Nationals 2017/18

UKU Juniors & Schools Women's Indoor Nationals (JWIN) will be held this year at Aldersley Leisure Village, Wolverhampton. It will be a one day event on Sunday 12th November (approx 10am-5pm) on at least 3 pitches. We will run competitions in 3 different age brackets - U20, U17 and U14 - and we will have space for at least 24 teams total.

Entry into the tournament will cost £70 per team.  Payment will be made directly to UK Ultimate.  In order to secure a place in the tournament, please fill in the form here:

Please note that the initial deadline for entries will be Thursday 19th October (open from Wednesday 27th September). The deadline is relatively early (3 weeks from the tournament) in order that we can confirm who has a spot in plenty of time to organise your transport etc.

Before this deadline, priority will go to 1st teams from each institution. At this deadline, remaining available spaces in the tournament may be allocated to second and third teams. If you would like to enter more than one team per age group, please be aware that they may not all get in (and won't be confirmed until after the closing date). With the larger 3-pitch tournament, we do hope to accommodate all the teams who wish to participate, but we can't guarantee it until after that date.

It is possible that there will be room available after the closing date, and we will allow more teams to enter if that's the case. The big difference will be that you won't get priority over someone else's third team any more!

If you have a small number of players but not enough for a full team (or enough for 1 but not quite enough for 2), please get in touch because it's likely that others will be in the same position and we could combine players so that more girls get to take part. Of course, all combined teams must be approved by UKU to prevent deliberate super-teams forming, so do please contact Junior coordinator Joe Wyatt on joewyatt7[at]gmail.com to discuss.

Eligibility:

There is no qualifying round, and no 'minimum standard' that your team must meet. If you are a newly formed school team, you are very, very much invited!

Lots of new institutions have joined UK Ultimate over the past 12 months, and we'd be delighted if as many as possible could make it to this tournament. There will be a very large range of abilities, with many teams of complete beginners, so do not feel intimidated by the 'Nationals' designation - it's open to everyone and everyone will have a great time.

 

As per the UKU Junior eligibility rules, to be eligible for the UKU under-20 division you must have been born on or after January 1st 1997.

To be eligible for the U17 division, you must be in Year 11 or below.

To be eligible for the U14 division, you must normally be in Year 8 or below, but for this tournament so early in the school year we are happy for younger Year 9s (i.e. those with birthdays from January-August) to play in the Y8 division also.

Where possible teams should be made up of girls from a single club / school / organisation but where that is not possible, the first option should usually be to pick up for the most local team.  If you want to play for a team that is not your school team, please get in touch with joewyatt7[at]gmail.com and we will do what we can to make sure that this is done fairly.

Multiple teams:
Places will initially be reserved for first teams. Any additional teams will be placed on a waiting list.  These teams will be given spaces if they are still available after the initial deadline, with priority going to second teams, then third teams if appropriate. For teams at the same level places will be distributed on a first come first served basis - i.e. second team spots go to the earliest second teams to enter, and third team spots to the earliest third teams to enter, but that does NOT mean that an early third team goes ahead of someone else's second team. 

 

Other info:

Do not enter a team unless you have AT LEAST 7 fit players who are able to travel.

Have at least one non-playing adult with the team, in case they need to accompany injured players to hospital or similar (strongly advised for U20s, obviously a necessity for younger age groups!).
