This document shows the most up to date information we have regarding the timings and locations for these events.

Entries are open from Tuesday 3rd October 2017, and must be made through BUCS, not through UKU. Your University staff will have to enter you, as only they have access to the BUCS system. Go and see your AU staff ASAP and get your entries in - late entries have no guarantee of being accepted, even if it's something that appears not to be your fault (like staff not being in the office when you try and enter 10 mins before the deadline...). Get it sorted!

The closing date is Thursday 19th October 2017.

UKU/BUCS Indoors Entry Rules

BUCS Regionals (Open/Women - see additional rules for Mixed below)

The closing date and payment date will be as announced by BUCS (to your Uni) and on our UKU event pages. BUCS will no longer accept late entries this year. It may be possible for us to institute a second round of entries after the first deadline has passed if the tournaments are undersubscribed, but these will be charged (by BUCS) at 20% over the initial price - and we cannot in any way guarantee to make space for teams who have missed the BUCS deadlines. Don't mess this up!

For tournaments that are over-subscribed at the closing date the following rules will apply, in order:

·         First teams will get priority over second teams, and second over third etc.

·         If there is insufficient room for all first teams, places will be awarded in the following order:

o   First teams finishing in the top half of the previous year’s tournament

o   First teams who didn’t enter the previous year’s tournament

o   Remaining first teams in order of their finishing position last year

·         If there are spaces remaining after all first teams have been awarded a space, second teams will be offered places in an order based on finishing position last year, and then third teams and so on

o   Second teams with no finishing position from last year will have a lower priority than those who attended – but still above all third teams (and so on)

If the cut-off happens to fall between 2 or more teams with no finishing position from last year, a lottery will be run between those teams to determine entry.

BUCS Nationals

The closing date and payment date will be as announced by BUCS. Entry is guaranteed for all qualifying teams provided they meet this deadline.

Should any teams fail to take up their spots, the places will be filled by the next-ranked team from one of the qualifying tournaments, with priority among regions determined according to the following (in order):

1.       The region(s) not yet offered an extra place under this process which had the fewest qualification spots originally

2.       The region from which the team dropped out

3.       The strongest regions, i.e.

a.       for Division 1, the region with the highest-ranked relegated team last year – but note that rule 1 means we ignore teams from regions already awarded a dropout-spot.

b.      for Division 2, the region with the highest average finishing position in Division 2 the previous year

c.       for Women’s, the region with the highest average finishing position last year.

4.       A lottery between regions that cannot be separated by the above

Rules will be the same as for BUCS tournaments, with the following additions:

Late entries may be accepted, providing that they improve the schedule for others. We will not allow late entries which make the numbers worse.

·         Single-institution teams at a given level (e.g. 1st, 2nd etc) will have priority entry at regionals over any teams at the same level who have players from more than one institution.

·         UKU reserve the right to move clubs to a blacklist if any of their teams default from any UKU University tournament at late notice.

o   Blacklisted 1st teams will only get into non-BUCS tournaments if there is space for all 1st teams; 2nd/3rd/4th teams from blacklisted clubs will only get a space if the tournament is undersubscribed – i.e. someone else’s 4th team will get in ahead of your 2nd team.

Qualifying Spots

Women's (Div 1) (Change from last year)
Scotland - 5 (losing 1 spot)
North - 6
East - 5 (gaining 1 spot)
West - 4

Which region are we in?

Please note that your region is not necessarily related to where your Men's team plays in the Outdoor leagues. We have 7 indoor regions (combined into 4 larger regions for Women's), which do not tally with the 5 Outdoor Men's regions. Check carefully!

Women's East contains both SE & E&L

Women's West contains both SW & WW

Women's North contains both YE & NE&NW

Scotland remains the same.

This list should now contain all the Unis - if your team is missing please do let us know and we'll update it!

Regionals (North) will be held at Salford Sports Village on 29th-30th July 2017 for all three divisons (Open, Women's and Mixed).

The NORTH region will be made up of Scotland (Sc), Northern Ireland (NI), North-East (NE), North-West (NW), Yorkshire & Humberside (Y&H), West-Midlands (WM), East-Midlands (EM) and East-England (EE).

In terms of the Open division regions used last year this effectively combines Scotland, North and Midlands.

UKU Beach Nationals 2017

Submitted by Si Hill on Tue, 11/04/2017 - 11:59am
Event date:
16 Sep 2017 (All day) - 17 Sep 2017 (All day)
Event details:

Beach Nationals will be held on Sandbanks beach on the 16th and 17th of September 2017 hosted by Bournemouth University and Sunburn Beach Tournament committee.

The INFO PACK and SCHEDULE can be found as PDFs at the bottom of this page.

The live schedule can be accessed here: https://goo.gl/aDpT7r

Beach Nationals 2017 is now open for registration.  These will be held on the 16th and 17th September on Sandbanks beach, the same location as last year's competition.  Please read on or look here for more information.

The planned format is a three division, 8-team tournament for Open, Women’s, and Mixed. However, if there are insufficient entries for a particular division then it may not go ahead, and another division expanded according to demand. This decision will be made once the closing date has passed. Please note that accommodation is not available for this tournament, so consider this in your planning when arranging a team. A list of nearby hotels and campsites will be sent to entrants.

Entry is made by emailing sunburn.bournemouth@outlook.com with the following information:

- Team name

- Contact Name

- Contact Email and Phone

- Secondary Contact

- Additional relevant information (previous beach tournaments entered, finishing position, player details)

The deadline for submitting a team is Thursday 10th August. After this date, if over-subscribed, the entry rules will be applied to teams as outlined below. Selected teams will be required to make payment of £160, which will be detailed in their confirmation email.

For tournaments that are over-subscribed at the closing date the following rules will apply, in order:

- Teams from clubs who have completed Club Affiliation to the UKU will have priority over those who have not

 - Teams not on the blacklist (for late dropouts at previous events) will get priority over those who are

 - Teams finishing in the top 1/3 of the same event in the previous year*

- Teams finishing in the top 1/3 of places in any 2017 beach tournament*

 Additional notes:

First teams will NOT get priority over second teams - it is so easy to simply change the name of a 'second team' to avoid such a rule, which would disadvantage those 'proper' clubs who have a real identity.

If spaces remain after the closing date, teams will be awarded spaces based on the order of DATE (not exact time) that payment was sent. This will be assumed to be the date payment was received unless there is additional information (e.g. screenshot of transfer, postmark on stamp etc.)

If there remain too many teams - which cannot be separated by the above - for the remaining places, a lottery will be run for ONLY those inseparable teams, for those places.

*We're obviously not able to check that your roster is sufficiently related to the roster for that previous tournament under the same name - but we expect teams to apply some SotG to that.

UKU Nationals (EUCR-W) 2017

Submitted by Si Hill on Tue, 11/04/2017 - 10:33am
Event date:
26 Aug 2017 (All day) - 28 Aug 2017 (All day)
Event details:

Thanks to all teams who entered Nationals - registration is now closed.

We are pleased to now confirm the schedule and the Info Pack for UKU Nationals 2017.

As ever, the info pack contains a great deal of information about important things, like where to park and where you can or can't spectate from - do make sure to familiarise yourslef with everything you need to know.

Pitches 1 & 3 will be streamed live by Fanseat and the UKU Media Team. You can watch the games on their website.

With a fantastic 9 Mixed, 9 Women's, and 9 Open division games, the majority of teams will be filmed at some point - if you're one of the unlucky Open teams not getting a pool game streamed then you'd better make the top 6 to get on camera! And if you're following along at home and trying to catch up on the non-streamed games, the schedule link above will be updated with scores after each round of play.

Please note that the End of Year Celebration Dinner has been cancelled due to lack of ticket sales. We came close to our minimum number of sales, but didn't quite get there. We've emailed all the individuals that booked already and will be organising refunds today. Sorry it didn't work out this time!

However, teams are required to register their team and submit their roster on ultimate central - http://euf.ultimatecentral.com/e/eucrw-owx-2017.

This is an EUCS requirement so teams need to make sure this is done before the tournament weekend.

Accomodation and transport:

Camping is available at this tournament on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday night.
The cost is £5 per tent for the weekend if bought in advance here, £10 if bought on the day.
To book camping please head here to pay and receive your confirmation. Make sure that you print off your confirmation and bring it with you to exchange for your camping ticket on arrival.
Your camping ticket must be attached to your tent’s guy rope. Staff will be checking to ensure that no unauthorised tents are in the campsite.
Any belongings left in the campsite area are at the risk of the owner and both the venue and UKU take no responsibility for the loss or damage of any items.
The toilet facilities in the Pavilion will be open overnight for those that need them. Please ensure that you take a light with you so you can get to and from the building safely.

Camping rules (not rocket science - don't be that person):

  • No cooking of any description is allowed in the camping area

  • Walkways need to be kept clear so people can navigate their way safely through the campsite.
  • Please ensure that you put your rubbish in the bins provided

The venue is reasonably easy to find on your SatNav, but do make sure to look in the Info Pack to find the location of the car park and the overflow car park.

*** ONLINE SCHEDULE IS NOW AVAILABLE *** - and as pdf below.

*** PITCH MAP ***

UKU Nottingham WindFarm, Open & Women's Tour 1 2017 will be held at Grove Farm, University of Nottingham, with all divisions of the UKU Tour in one location. This is the same venue as used for OWT2 2016, and many other tournaments over the last few years.  The venue doesn’t have its own postcode, but NG7 2SA will get you onto the right entry road, and you should just follow that all the way to the end.

After some significant work on the site, there are now two shiny new changing blocks, and even more pitches - well over 30, if we need them - so we really do expect to cater for every single team that wishes to enter! That doesn't mean we'll necessarily accept very late entries, as plans will have been made by then - so do make sure to meet the deadlines if you can.

The closing date (and payment date) for this event will be 3 weeks in advance - Sunday 14th May 2016. After this date, places will be awarded. Places MAY still be available later on a first-come first-served basis if the tournament is under-subscribed, and if the additional team(s) would not adversely affect the schedule, but no team - no matter how strong - would be guaranteed entry.

Please note also that teams who pull out after the closing date will be liable for 50% of the fees, and those who pull out in the last fortnight (after 21st May) will be liable for the full team fee.

Late entries may be charged an additional £30 fine - we do expect to be able to find room for as many teams as needed, but we certainly don't want to encourage everyone to enter late either!

How to register:
Accomodation and transport:

There is no free on-site camping at this venue - but there are plenty of the usual hotels in the area.

There is also a nearby campsite here: http://www.nwscnotts.com/nwsc/ACCOMMODATION_Camping

Nottingham is roughly 2.5, 3 and 5 hours drive from London, Cardiff and Edinburgh, respectively, with 80% of the UK within 2 hours’ reach of the city.

The nearest airport is East Midlands, approx 20 mins by car from the venue, along the A453 (see driving directions below - the airport is very close to where you sould leave the motorway if driving from elsewhere).

Nottingham is best accessed from the M1 for the majority of the country, or via the M5 & M42 for those travelling from the West. Whether taking the M1 for long distances, or joining it at the end of the M42 or M6, your best bet is to exit at Junction 24 (regardless of being Southbound or Northbound), onto the A453.

Follow this road along the River Trent for around 10 miles, before reaching the A52 (Clifton Boulevard), take this until a roundabout, taking the first exit onto Lenton Lane.

Stay on Lenton Lane right to the end, where staff will guide you to the parking area.

Note that Lenton Lane is single track, and if you come out again at busy times (or if a taxi drops you off and leaves) you will cause major headaches. Please try to take that inco account! Taxis should drop off at the Powerleague facility (Thane Rd, Nottingham NG7 2TG) which backs on to the other side of the pitches, and there is a cut-through to get you on to the site.

The Riverside Golf Centre is not part of the Tour venue.

UKU/BUCS University Men's & Women's Outdoor Nationals 2016-17

Submitted by benheywood on Thu, 26/01/2017 - 5:16pm
Event date:
29 Apr 2017 (All day) - 30 Apr 2017 (All day)
Event details:

Schedule and Info Pack now available as pdfs below. The schedule can also be seen online, where it will update throughout the weekend with results as they happen - https://goo.gl/781lvS

UKU/BUCS University Men's & Women's Outdoor Nationals will be held on this date at Nottingham University's Grove Farm venue.

The venue doesn’t have its own postcode, but NG7 2SA will get you onto the right entry road. Follow it all the way to the end, even though it looks like it doesn't go anywhere much.

Entries are now open and will close on Thursday 13th April 2017. Note that already this season a team has missed out on a tournament they qualified for due to not getting an entry in on time - BUCS are extremely strict on these. Make sure you get it done!

This year we once again will host an amazing six divisions:

Men's UKU/BUCS Championships (a.k.a Division 1, 16 teams)

Men's UKU/BUCS Trophy (a.k.a Division 2, 14 teams)

Men's UKU/BUCS Conference Cup Finals (a.k.a. Division 3, 10 teams)

Women's UKU/BUCS Championships (a.k.a. Division 1, 16 teams)

Women's UKU/BUCS Division 2 (No BUCS points available, but still a BUCS event - 16 teams)

The Alumni Cup (Space for up to 16 teams).

For the Men's teams, qualification was through the leagues (for those in 1A) or through the Conference Cup (for those in lower divisions). Hopefully you should know which division you qualified for - top 3 to Championships, next 3 to Trophy, and the Conference Cup finalists obviously go through to that division.

The one exception is that the best 4th placed team in the leagues goes to the Championships - which this year is Strathclyde, on points difference over the other 4th place finishers. Strathclyde should enter the Championships on BUCSscore.

ALL TEAMS DO NEED TO ENTER through BUCSscore, even though your fees are covered by your league fees. You don't need to pay - the cost is set to zero on the entry form - but you do need to enter. You athletic union staff will have to do this - you CANNOT enter yourselves. Go see them ASAP.

If - and only if - all the Uni staff are on holiday until after the closing date (technically possible I guess at this time of year) then we will talk to BUCS and make sure you are not disadvantaged, but you MUST email UKU on the contact email below to let us know about any issues IN ADVANCE.

All players will of course require full membership of the UKU for the finals.

For the Women's teams, qualifiers will need to enter through BUCSscore. Your athletic union staff will have to do this for you - you CANNOT enter yourselves. Go see them ASAP. The cost will be £140 as usual, and entries will close on the 13th April.

If - and only if - all the Uni staff are on holiday until after the closing date (technically possible I guess at this time of year) then we will talk to BUCS and make sure you are not disadvantaged, but you MUST email UKU on the contact email below to let us know about any issues IN ADVANCE. Similarly, if you qualified but are unable to attend, do let us know ASAP so that we can contact the next team on the list.

The waiting list will be calculated ASAP and added here soon.

All players will of course require full membership of the UKU for the finals.

The Alumni Cup

Have you ever argued that your university team of 2010 was better than the 2005 team? Have you always wanted a re-match of a previous Student Nationals final? Well now is your chance! Gather together your mates and enter a team into the Alumni Cup.

Alumni cup will be an open division - obviously that means genuinely Open and not Men's; mixed teams are possible. To be eligible for an alumni team the player must have attended the institution for at least one year, on a more-than-half-time basis. The player does not need to have graduated from that institution - i.e. it's quite possible for current teams/players who didn't qualify for nationals to come along and play in the Alumni Cup. Universities may enter more than one team. All players must have basic UKU membership as a minimum - we will check some rosters at random on the day.

There is no qualification for this division. Please click here now to register. Entries will be accepted on a first-pay, first served basis and are not confirmed until payment has been received. The initial deadline for entries is Thursday 13th April.

If you drop out before 13th April you will of course be refunded, but after that date you should not expect to get your money back. Late dropouts are a pain for everyone - please ensure you do have a full team before entering. Alumni teams are by their very nature a bit disparate and hard to herd, so please be really sure you do have enough committed players!

Similarly, there is a small chance that the division does not get enough teams to go ahead. There will of course be refunds if that's the case, but do perhaps be a little wary of booking unrefundable accommodation etc. If team numbers are very low, we will ask the teams involved whether they would still like to go ahead with the tournament - we don't mind if you want to play with only 4 teams, but equally we are aware that some teams might not be tempted if the division is very small. We should stress though that we do expect the division to run, as it has every other year - we're just a bit worried that we've advertised it very late is all!

Cost = £185 per team

How to register:

Through the UKU Entry Form for Alumni teams; through your Uni and BUCSscore for Men's and Women's teams

Accomodation and transport:

We do not intend to provide accommodation. We very rarely do for BUCS events, as your Uni should be supporting you. We do understand that some teams will not get that support, so you should contact us and we will put you in touch with the local team who MAY be able to help - but no guarantees.
