Jim HancoxA note from Jim Hancox, UKU Mixed Coordinator:

Over the past ten years, we have always struggled to find the right place in the season for Mixed Nationals.  The Competitions Committee has come up with a potential new approach (see below) - but please note we would like feedback on this IDEA before making the final decision.  And in particular please note that there is big knock-on impact to Women's Nationals too.

Based on the poll-responses received so far we decided to provide some additional information on some of the common questions/comments - but please read the proposal and poll first if you have not done so already.

BUCS Gold for Exeter's Uriel

This weekend (sat 26th & sun 27th) six qualifying teams from each region across the UK's University division competed at the UKU University Open Indoor Nationals. BUCS Division One was held at the Alan Higgs Centre in Coventry, and Division Two was held in St.Albans.

Division One [and UKU National] Champions are Exeter University’s Uriel, who played a fantastic final to beat Manchester's Halcyon to the gold. Congratulations also go to Dundee for their victory in the bronze playoff.

In Division Two, Cardiff beat Liverpool in an exciting sudden death final. This match, along with all the games from the weekend, was steamed live on the St.Albans Ultimate website with the help of ultimate media group LOVEultimate.

GB Junior Regional Skills Days

There are 5 regional GB-Junior skills days coming up this month (October 2011). These are a great chance to help improve players' skills and gain access to the experience of the GB coaches. All players of any experience are welcome. These will also allow more players to be considered for selection for the GB squad for Worlds in 2012.
Any player that wishes to be selected for the U20 male team, must attend one of the regional days to then be invited to attend the national trial.

8th October - Guildford, 9th October - Bristol, 15th October - Leeds (Boston Spa), 29th October - Midlands (Sutton Coldfield)
