UKU Event Announcements

This newsletter is intended to provide a simple stream of information about UKU events. At the point of launch, the intention is that this will provide a definitive source of the most important information relating to UKU events: - dates - registration processes - news updates in the weeks preceding an event (e.g. schedule released, etc)

As usual, please DO NOT make any concrete travel plans based on this schedule yet as it may change but do have a look at it to ensure that there aren't any issues. We apologise for the lateness of this being published, however we do hope to be able to confirm this schedule by Friday morning.

Congratulations to University College London 1 for taking home the title of University Mixed Outdoor National Champions following a tight final against University of Birmingham 1! Also, well done to the University of Sussex for winning the University Cool Down event down in Cardiff.

Entries now OPEN for more UKU Ranking Events + upcoming Closing Dates!

On 22nd-23rd June 2019, the following events will be taking place across the UK as part of the NEW Club Outdoor Competition Structure:

UXON St Andrews Important

UXON St Andrews. Please do not congregate and hang up gear in sports centre reception. Please use the PAVILION changing rooms or the David Russell Apartments cafe where you can also buy some hot food and drinks. Please help - we are driving sport centre staff crazy.

UXON & Cool Down - Update

We are pleased to confirm that both of the events this weekend are going ahead as planned. Please find the schedules for UXON and the Cool Down using the links below. It does seem that Leaguevine is back up and running as of this morning, but we do not have enough information to be sure that it will be okay for the duration of the weekend so we will continue with the schedules that we have put together.

However, there is also still a chance that the weather could disrupt the events. We have been talking to the two venues a lot over the last couple of days and they have confirmed that our events are okay to carry on, but obviously we can’t make any guarantee that things won’t change as clearly the weather forecast isn’t looking great for tomorrow. Please make sure that you continue to keep an eye out for updates throughout the rest of today and tomorrow morning. We will update teams using the usual communication channels if anything changes.

UXON & Cool Down 2019 - Schedule & Weather Issues

Apologies for the delay in publishing the first 2 rounds of the Swiss Draw for the University Mixed Outdoor Nationals and University Cool Down events that are happening this weekend. A couple of major issues have come up which have set us back.

Unfortunately, despite us using the Leaguevine website a few weeks ago and there being no indication that there were any problems, as we went to access it this week to create the tournaments for this weekend it appears that the website is currently down. We tried contacting Leaguevine to see whether the issue would be solved in time, but to no avail. As such, it means that we are unable to use the Swiss Draw format for the two events this weekend and so we have been working hard to get the more traditional schedules finalised last minute.

In addition, due to the recent weather and with the forecast for the weekend, there is now a major concern that we may not be able to use as many pitches as we expected or even that the events might have to be cancelled. Both of the venues, St Andrews and Cardiff University, are keeping us up to date with any changes should they occur but unfortunately at this time we are not confident that we can use the schedules that we’ve put together. This means that ALL teams need to continue to assume and plan for the possibility that they are playing in the first gameslot at 9am. However, we will inform you of any updates as soon as we can, particularly if the events can no longer go ahead.

Please keep an eye out on the UKU website, @UKUltimateEvent Twitter page, the Regional Facebook Groups, and the UXON Event Website for updates.

Sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.
