UKU Masters Nationals 2019 Roundup!

7th September saw UKU Masters Nationals held for the second year as a one day tournament partially incorporated into the Glastonbury Tor-Nament.

Four teams took part: reigning champions The Mild-Mannered Janitors; the East Midlands contingent of Extra Mature Red Leicester; newcomers from nearby Bristol, Gert Lush; and Glastonbury stalwarts High Society.

The dominant Janitors went undefeated in pool play and met Extra Mature Red Leicester in the final - a rematch of the opening game of the day. Having started well but fallen away to a 15-7 defeat in their earlier game Red must have been keen to make amends but they were stunned by a clinical Janitors taking a 5-0 lead before eventually retaining their title with a 15-6 win.

All four Masters teams then put in a very good showing at the evening's festivities, showing the kids how it's done and strutting their stuff on the dancefloor till way past closing!

We hope that all teams had a fantastic weekend and we look forward to seeing you at the event again next year!
