UKU U17 & U14 Open Indoor Nationals 2018/19 - Results & Spirit Standings

Our thanks go out to all the players, teachers, parents and volunteers who helped to make U14 & U17 Open Indoor Nationals such a great success this year! We saw 36 teams competing over the 2 divisions, with some fantastic Ultimate and great Spirit on display throughout the event!

The Under-14 Division final saw DHSB 1 (Devonport High School for Boys, Plymouth) take on the holders AirBadgers 1 (St Peter's School, Exeter) in an exciting game. Both teams put in a great performance, but AirBadgers managed to pull away and retain their title for another year.

Meanwhile, the Under-17 Division culminated in an 'all-AirBadgers' final between AirBadgers 1 and AirBadgers 2. With the trophy already set to head back to Exeter, AirBadgers 1 continued their dominant form to secure the silverware.

The Plate trophies in each division were awarded to U14 AirBadgers 2 and U17 Manor (Manor CoE Academy, York), while the Spoon prizes went to U14 DHSB 2 and U17 Chestnut Grove (Chestnut Grove Academy, Balham).

Huge congratulations also go to our Spirit of the Game winners for the weekend, with U14 Ocelots 1 (Bishop Heber School, Malpas) and U17 AirBadgers 3 topping their respective divisions! Due to an issue with the Spirit Form resulting in multiple entries being duplicated, the award in the U14 category was presented to the winners on the day: U14 Flux 1 (Twycross House School, Twycross).

We continue to see the score reporting and use of comments improving at these events, with many teams taking the opportunity to provide others with valuable written feedback, and promote even better Spirit at future events. However, a number of scores had to be removed due to not being valid. Often, this was because the score fell outside the 'normal' range, but was not ccompanied by a comment to indicate that it wasn't submitted accidentally or without correct application of the criteria. Accurate Spirit of the Game scores are essential to supporting teams to continually improve their Spirit in games, so please take the time to familiarise yourselves with the submission rules and ensure all players understand the scoring criteria. If you have any questions on how to submit scores, or how to use the criteria, please speak to a TD.

We look forward to seeing you all at the Schools' National Championships, being held on Sunday 30th June, at University of Leicester Playing Fields. Entries open very soon!
