Ultimate and the School Games

We are very pleased to announce that Ultimate is one of three new sports that have been formally added to the School Games as sanctioned sports.  We are currently working with the Youth Sport Trust to develop the formats and material to be used in a pilot introduction during the Summer term - with the expectation of being fully launched into the programme in September.

The School Games is funded by Sport England through the National Lottery, and delivered by the Youth Sport Trust.  It involves funded School Games Organisers (SGOs) at a local level and Local Organising Committees (LOCs) at a county level working to create an annual calendar of competition.  There are currently more than 20,000 School Games registered schools taking part in intra and inter-school events every year - and it really is a fantastic opportunity for us to broaden access to ultimate in schools.  This particular scheme runs only in England - and so we will be looking to build on alternative approaches in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

We also believe that the School Games will create a framework that makes it easier for ultimate clubs, coaches and players to engage with their local schools.  Please look out for more news and announcements!
