The website. Good news. Bad news.

The UKU website is well overdue an overhaul.  This is obvious. The good news is that this is underway, and later this month (i.e. in May) we will be moving the data management and payment processing aspects of the website to a new commercial NGB membership management system called GoMembership.  The bad news is that this will not change what our homepage looks like in the short term!

We prioritised moving the management of membership data to a commercial system partly because of the impending changes to data protection laws (GDPR).  We selected a supplier that is already working with a number of other, larger UK National Governing Bodies of sport. Once we have completed that part of the work, we will then start on upgrading the more visible aspects of the website.

The new website is going to cost more than our old, volunteer-supported system.  When the new system goes live we will be increasing membership fees (for the first time in over 15 years) to help cover the increase in costs.  Full Membership will increase to £30, Uni/U18 Full Membership to £20, and Basic Membership to £6.

It is likely that we will experience some teething problems in the first few weeks of running the new system.  We urge players that will be playing Open & Women’s Tour events in June, but who have not yet updated their membership, TO PLEASE DO SO BEFORE FRIDAY 18th at 5pm.  This will undoubtedly help us, and it will also mean you pay a bit less.
