For clubs: a new Buddle animation explaining key safegaurding principles and updated welfare officer role descriptor

UKU

A fantastic new safegaurding resource from Buddle!

Buddle is the new home of Club Matters, sharing the latest information, training and tools to help clubs and organisations overcome challenges and make the most of the opportunities available to them.

Everyone involved in sport and physical activity should be able to participate or volunteer without fear of abuse or harassment.

Clubs and community groups play a vital role in keeping their people safe from harm. Buddle’s latest animation (also below), developed in partnership with the Ann Craft Trust and the Child Protection in Sport Unit, explores the key principles of safeguarding, including:

  • the importance of putting safeguarding at the heart of an organisation’s operations

  • the five shared principles of safeguarding

  • the differences between safeguarding children and adults

  • how to appropriately and effectively deal with a safeguarding concern.

Buddle have also updated their welfare officer role descriptor. This outlines the desired qualities, skills and the main tasks of a welfare officer, plus tips on how the role can be supported by others.
