Safeguarding Committee

UKU Safeguarding:

Playing, coaching and participating safely

In the past few years we have seen an increase in the number of clubs engaging with youth players or making future plans to work with under 18s. We have also seen more adult clubs looking for support with welfare and safeguarding. Previously, where clubs have contacted UK Ultimate for advice and support, this has been supplied on an ad hoc basis. With an increase in these requests we decided to review our safeguarding policies and procedures and the information provided to clubs, including a new safeguarding pack of starting-point documents (all document can be found on our Safeguarding page).

The Safeguarding Committee has the overall goal of helping UK youth Ultimate to develop and grow in a safe and supported way. The Committee also has the goal of supporting with the safeguarding for all. The committee has three main purposes:

  • Maintain and review safeguarding documents, including the safeguarding pack for clubs, with a view to developing further guidance and support where possible.

  • Where possible to offer direct support to clubs.

  • When needed, be a pool of people that can help with their knowledge and experience.

The Safeguarding Committee does not deal with cases reported to UK Ultimate, this is managed by the UK Ultimate Safeguarding Officers who also sit on this Committee.
