Nominations Open for the WFDF Athletes’ Commission (2026–2030)

As Flying Disc sports continue to expand globally, the World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF) is strengthening athlete representation as a core pillar of the sport’s ongoing development and evolution.

The call for nominations for elected and appointed members for the 2026-2030 term reflects WFDF’s commitment to building a more effective, inclusive, and forward-looking organization. By expanding resources, WFDF continues to enhance how it supports and connects its global network of athletes, staff, and volunteers.

National Federations are encouraged to nominate engaged and qualified athletes who wish to contribute to this next phase of growth, innovation, and athlete-led governance within WFDF. The open positions are:

  • Ultimate: 3 elected positions

  • Disc Golf: 2 elected positions

  • Other Discipline: 1 elected position

  • Appointed Members: 5 positions (from all disciplines to ensure diversity and representation)

Nomination Deadline

“The Athletes’ Commission plays an important role within the WFDF governance structure to keep the organization in touch with the opinions of our players,” stated WFDF President Robert “Nob” Rauch. “The chair of the Commission, self-selected by the Commission members, serves on the Board. We encourage all qualified athletes to consider giving back to our global organization. And I want to thank the current members of the commission, chaired by Caroline Tisson (GER), for their valuable contributions over the last several years.”

“Athlete representation is not symbolic; it’s essential. Having our perspectives represented at the Board level helps ensure that decisions are practical, inclusive, and focused on access, safety, and long-term development,” commented AC Chair Caroline Tisson. “The upcoming elections are a chance for our athletes to shape the direction of flying disc sports actively. If you want to bring topics that matter to you and your community to WFDF’s agenda, I want to encourage you to run for the Athlete Commission at the upcoming elections.”

Interested athletes must meet the following criteria:

  • Be 18 years of age or older.

  • Have participated in a WFDF World Championship within the past eight (8) years (2018–2026)

  • Have no current or past Anti-Doping Rules Violations or criminal convictions

  • Submit the Nomination Form by the required deadline.

  • Provide an endorsement letter from their Member Federation, submitted by the required deadline.

Following confirmation of eligible nominations, an election will be held during the WFDF 2026 World Ultimate Club Championships in Limerick, Ireland for the Ultimate positions, during the WFDF 2026 World Team Disc Golf Championships for the Disc Golf positions, and during the FPA & WFDF 2026 World Freestyle Championships for the Other Discipline position. Principles and procedures will be distributed in advance. Appointments will be made after the completion of the elections by the board.

The WFDF Athletes’ Commission was established in 2012 to create an avenue for athlete advice, feedback, and assistance on matters of relevance to all Flying Disc disciplines and athletes. The Commission plays a vital role in ensuring that athlete perspectives are represented within WFDF’s governance structure.

Key responsibilities of the Athletes’ Commission include:

  • Promoting high standards of sportsmanship and ethical performance

  • Providing reports and recommendations to the WFDF Board on athlete-related matters

  • Examining the WFDF business plan and offering athlete-focused feedback

  • Bringing the athletes’ point of view to the Medical and Anti-Doping Committee

  • Representing athletes competing at WFDF Championships and facilitating feedback on athlete experiences
